Scottsdale, AZ 11/03/06 - UFO Major

This was the last chance qualifier to make it to the UFO Finals, part of the Ashley Whippet Invitational (AWI) weekend. Bailey and I had acquired 45 points at the Lancaster Major earlier in the year, but missed the Colorado Major due to DISTANCE AND MONEY! So we had to crack the top 17 places to earn enough points to make it to the finals. Here's how we did.

We posted one of our BEST Freestyle routines to date at 32.9 points, and 11th best out of more than 50 teams! It all came down to our specialty, Toss and Catch. Post a decent score and we're definitely in. Piece of Cake. NOT. I go out and throw like a scared lamb at a lion's dinner party. Barely getting off 25 yard toss after 25 yard toss. Boom. Done. 9 measly points. After all is said and done we are looking at a 3 way tie for 18th place. Yes, I said 18th Place. We needed 17th or better, and we get 18th. Needless to say, we were a bit bummed after making the long drive to Arizona to come that close and fail. But at least we had the FDDO to look forward to, also part of the AWI weekend.

The leader board was filled with new names, from other countries, mainly from Japan, and one from the Netherlands. Steve Malmlov was the only familiar name to break into the top 5.
