UFO Major / SoCal Disc Dog Challenge- La Mirada
This was a HOT HOT HOT event. I'm not talking about the level of competition, nor any other aspect of this contest outside of temperature! It was 105 degrees, in the shade!
Unfortunately for me and Bailey, this was our first competition back since the ordeal in Arcadia. And to put it simply, it was just too darn hot for my big white wrecking machine to operate. So only entered the Intermediate division, and we only really played one round. Bailey looked good, but it was just not a fun environment for either of us to compete. So we didn't.
But the event still went on, and there were some phenomenal performances from a few of the competitors. We had representative from Northern California, Arizona, and as far away as Colorado.
Al erikson & George, once again, were the gold standard in the first freestyle round, followed closely by Todd & Bella, and Steve Teer & Irish. Matt Diano & Maggie established themselves as the team to beat in the Toss & Fetch round with a steaming 17 points. No one came within 5 points of that total. The, they calmly went out and proved they couldn't be beat with the best Freestyle score of the day in the second round of freestyle. Al Erikson hung on to second place despite a poor Toss & Fetch round by posting the second best score of the second round. Todd Murnan grabbed 3rd place with two solid freestyle scores and a decent Toss & Fetch score.
Since UFO posts Freestyle Champion and Toss & Fetch Champions as well in the Open class I'll mention:
